This prober uses a TrippLite SNMPWEBCARD UPS/PDU add-on card as a temperature and humidity monitor. It allows the user to graph these values to track conditions at the device location using SNMP.

Yesterday, 2 eighth grade students from a local middle school participated in a “job shadow” day at our offices. These 2 students were interested in information technology and computers and were hungry to learn about InterMapper’s network monitoring software and our approach to software development.
We had a full schedule lined up for them to meet with senior management, product management, software development, network administration, sales and marketing.
As part of the Upper Valley Business and Education Partnership these students observed our workplace on a normal day providing an opportunity to see how skills taught in the classroom are applied beyond the school walls. Students can also gain insight on careers they might pursue in the future.
Plenty of donuts and pizza were on hand. They came hungry for knowledge, but certainly
did not leave hungry in more ways than one.

Many competitive tools only collect data at five-minute intervals. This is acceptable for long-term trending, but misses the details necessary for actual network operations. InterMapper’s high-performance polling engine can handle thousands of devices at the default 30-second polling interval.
You can even get higher granularity by setting the polling interval to be shorter (down to 1 second if desired) or by triggering another poll manually to get the status of a device at any instant. These faster poll rates will allow you to see small variations in the statistics, detecting micro-bursts of activity that could signal a trouble situation.

Two new videos have been posted on the InterMapper website regarding creating and using data retention policies to manage the collection and storage of your InterMapper server data. InterMapper data is collected locally for use in charts and can also be exported to a database for long term storage and reporting. In larger installations, you might also have multiple InterMapper servers reporting to one central database.
Even a modest network with 150 devices and no charts or special probes can generate up to 150MB per day – so you can see how important these setting are.
Use retention policies to specify how long you want to retain data both locally and in the database, and at what resolution. You may want to store certain data longer than other data.
